Release Notes for KubeSlice EE 0.4.0
Release Date: 22nd November 2022
KubeSlice is a cloud-independent platform that combines network, application, Kubernetes, and deployment services in a framework to accelerate application deployment in a multi-cluster and multi-tenant environment. KubeSlice achieves this by creating logical application slice boundaries which allow pods and services to communicate seamlessly across clusters, clouds, edges, and data centers.
We continue to add new features and enhancements to KubeSlice.
What's New
These release notes describe the new changes and enhancements in this version.
RBAC for Slice
KubeSlice now supports role-based access control (RBAC) for a slice. A slice can now be managed at a micro level that includes the access-level permissions to namespaces onboarded onto it. To learn how to manage RBAC, see:
IdP Authentication
In addition to the service account token, KubeSlice Manager supports identity provider (IdP) authentication. IdP is a service that stores and verifies a user's digital identity. IdP is a recommended login mechanism due to its ease of use. IdP is an optional requirement for configuring RBAC. You can set IdP even after installing KubeSlice.
For more information, see configuring IdP.
Bug Fixes
These release notes describe the issues fixed in this version.
KubeSlice Manager
- Fixed the issue where the Go To Manage Namespaces button was not in the middle of an empty landing page of the Manage Resources tab.
- Fixed the issue where there was no information about the default maximum clusters in the Max Cluster field in the first step of adding a slice under the Connect Clusters tab.
Known Issues
- When a namespace is deleted, an error stating that the namespace is not found is shown on the Manage RBAC page of the KubeSlice Manager.
